August 7, 1963: Eel Pie Island, Twickenham, England
Aug. 7, 1964: ‘4th National Jazz And Blues Festival’, Richmond Athletic Ground, London, England
The Stones played the 4th National Jazz and Blues Festival at Richmond Athletic Ground, London, in August 1964. By then, they were already stealing the spotlight from the jazz acts. Their raw blues energy, loud guitars, and wild stage presence didn’t exactly match the festival’s traditional vibe—but that’s what made them so exciting. Fans went crazy, and it was clear the Stones were no longer just a local sensation. It was one of those early gigs where they started to break out in a big way.

Aug. 7, 1966: Premiere of the Gather No Moss movie (which includes the whole performance of the Stones from the TAMI show, Teenage American Music International, at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 29th, 1964) at the Futuristic Cinema, Birmingham, England

Aug. 7, 1990: Valle Hovin, Oslo, Norway

The Rolling Stones’ Urban Jungle Tour in 1990 was pure rock mayhem across Europe. It was the second leg of their Steel Wheels tour after the U.S. but with a louder, wilder vibe—more yellow, more attitude, and even bigger crowds. Jagger was all over the stage, Keith was cool as ever, and the band sounded tight and sharp. The shows felt like a giant party—massive energy, lights everywhere, and the Stones proving they were still the kings of live rock.
