August 9 has an unusually busy place in Rolling Stones history, stretching from sweaty British ballrooms to a massive Copenhagen stop on the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour. In 1990, the Stones rolled into Idretspark with a setlist that could barely contain the hits, But the date also has a less obvious Stones connection: 2005 saw the release of The Jones Gang’s ‘Any Day Now‘, with Ronnie Wood reportedly contributing to two tracks—and possibly more than just his name to the project. Meanwhile, 1963 and 1964 found the Stones working their way through England’s ballroom circuit.

Drummer Kenney Jones leads The Jones Gang, drawing on his history with The Small Faces, The Faces, and The Who. The album blends classic rock influences with a contemporary polish, moving confidently between anthems, pop, ballads, acoustic songs, and psychedelia.
