December 6, 1969: Altamont Speedway, Livermore, CA, USA
The infamous day when the Stones headlined a free concert at the Altamont Speedway in Livermore, California, in front of 300.000 people. The Hell’s Angels disrupt the performances and murder 18-year-old concertgoer Meredith Hunter near the stage. Other acts included the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Jefferson Airplane, Santana and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The Grateful Dead finally decided not to take part of the concert.
