February 8 has always been a day of milestones for The Rolling Stones and their circle. From early UK shows in Windsor and Edmonton to electrifying performances in Wellington, Las Vegas, and Atlanta, it’s a date marked by music, energy, and evolution. Beyond the stage, it captures moments of humanity and collaboration: Keith Richards’ infamous driving license mishap, guest spots on Ian McLagan’s Troublemaker, Mick Jagger’s solo triumph with Wandering Spirit, and his BAFTA spotlight. Even decades in, February 8 reflects the band’s enduring influence, blending rock history, personal stories, and creative synergy in a single, unforgettable day.
February 8, 1963: Ricky Tick Club, Windsor, England
Feb. 8, 1964: Regal Theatre, Edmonton, England (2 shows; first shows of the Stones’ second British tour)
February 8, 1965: Town Hall, Wellington, New Zealand (2 shows)

Feb. 8, 1966: Even rock legends aren’t immune to everyday struggles—case in point: Keith Richards failing a test for his driving license. Despite decades of commanding stages and mastering riffs that have defined rock ‘n’ roll, the rules of the road proved trickier than a guitar solo. It’s a surprisingly human moment for a man whose life often seems larger than life, a reminder that fame and skill in one arena don’t always translate to another. Fans love these glimpses behind the curtain, seeing that even icons stumble, laugh, and keep rolling—proving that charm and resilience matter more than perfection.

February 8, 1980: Release of Ian McLagan‘s album Troublemaker, with Keith and Ronnie as guests on two tracks: 1. Truly/ 2. Somebody
Their contributions weren’t just about star power—they infused the songs with a raw, authentic energy that only decades of experience and friendship could produce. The collaboration highlights the tight-knit world of British rock at its peak, where legends freely crossed paths, and every note carried the spark of shared history and creative brilliance. The album also features a cover version of Ronnie’s song Mystifies Me.

February 8, 1993: Release of Wandering Spirit, Mick’s third solo album
SIDE A: 1. Wired All Night/ 2. Sweet Thing/ 3. Out Of Focus/ 4. Don’t Tear Me Up/ 5. Put Me In The Trash/ 6. Use Me/ 7. Evening Gown
SIDE B: 1. Mother Of A Man/ 2. Think/ 3. Wandering Spirit/ 4. Hang On To Me Tonight/ 5. I’ve Been Lonely For So Long/ 6. Angel In My Heart/ 7. Handsome Molly
Mick Jagger’s Wandering Spirit (1993) is his third solo album, packed with energy, attitude, and a raw rock ‘n’ roll edge. Unlike his previous solo works, this one feels stripped down and focused, with Jagger embracing blues, country, and classic rock influences. Tracks like Wired All Night, Sweet Thing and the title track show his signature swagger, while the country-flavored Evening Gown reveals a more introspective side. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album ditches the overproduction of the ‘80s, letting Jagger’s voice and songwriting shine. Wandering Spirit was well-received, proving that Mick could deliver outside the Stones. If you haven’t heard it, give it a spin—it’s Jagger at his solo best.
