March 1 2016: The Stones announce they will perform a free concert in Cuba on March 25, their first show ever in the country.
In March 2016 the Rolling Stones made history by performing a massive free concert in Havana, Cuba, attracting more than 500,000 attendees. As part of their América Latina Olé tour, this event was particularly significant, as rock music had long been suppressed in the country. Mick Jagger energized the audience by speaking in Spanish, and the concert became a symbol of cultural transformation in Cuba.

The performance was later documented in Havana Moon, a film released a few months afterward. Held just days after Barack Obama’s historic visit to the island, the show reflected a period of change and growing openness. For both the Rolling Stones and their Cuban fans, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that reinforced the idea that music transcends boundaries and unites generations.
