May 29, 1978: On the grounds of irreconciliable differences, Bianca Jagger files for divorce from Mick. The high-profile couple, who had married in 1971, had long been the subject of media attention due to their glamorous lifestyle and the Rolling Stones’ growing fame. Rumors of infidelity and growing personal and professional differences had surrounded their relationship for years. Bianca, a Nicaraguan socialite and human rights advocate, eventually chose to end the marriage after seven years. Despite the split, the two have remained publicly respectful of each other, and Bianca has continued her independent path.
