December 8, 1967: Release of the Their Satanic Majesties Request album (Decca TXS 103), the Stones’ sixth British and eighth American studio album. This is the Stones at their most trippy—psychedelia, weird experiments, and a “let’s-see-what-happens” vibe all over the place. It’s messy, bold, and totally of its time. Love it or not, it’s the band diving headfirst into the late-’60s cosmic chaos and having fun doing it.
