The Stones launched their Bridges to Babylon Tour with a splashy press event under the Brooklyn Bridge, kicking things off with warm-up gigs in Toronto and Chicago. The official opener hit Soldier Field on September 23, 1997, leading to a massive run: 55 North American shows and dozens more across South America, Japan, and Europe. This tour debuted a near-constant B-stage, linked by a huge 46-meter telescoping bridge that stretched from the main stage to the stadium’s center.
